Brea Olinda Teachers Association Ratifies Tentative Agreement
We are pleased to announce that the Brea Olinda Teachers Association (BOTA) and the Brea Olinda Unified School District have reached a Tentative Agreement on all contract terms for the 2011-2012 school year. The BOTA membership ratified the Agreement on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. The Board of Education will take formal action to ratify the Agreement at the Monday, February 28, 2011 meeting.
The Agreement provides for up to eleven (11) furlough days, as needed, during the 2011-2012 school year, including five (5) student attendance days, two (2) staff development days, and four (4) teacher preparation days. The District and BOTA will collaboratively work to develop a calendar to best address the uncertainties presented in the state budget picture. A tentative calendar will be developed and communicated to BOUSD families this spring. Once we have a 2011-2012 state-adopted budget, most likely later this summer, we can determine the actual number of furlough days, if any, that are needed.
We applaud the efforts of our negotiating teams and the commitment by the parties to protect the fiscal condition of the District and the compensation of the Association members in the face of revenue fluctuations due to the State Budget. Click HERE to view the tentative agreement.
